BERETTA OBTAINS ISO 50001 CERTIFICATION
Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta, historically committed to the responsible management of energy resources, announces the achievement of ISO 50001 certification, an international standard that certifies efficient energy management. This is not a requirement imposed by current legislation, as Beretta voluntarily chose to pursue this milestone as part of a strong commitment to energy efficiency and reducing environmental impacts. The certification marks a significant step in the company’s sustainability journey and confirms its ongoing dedication to environmental protection.
Beretta’s history in energy production is long-standing and deeply embedded in both the company’s processes and the surrounding area. From its earliest days, the company has harnessed natural resources from the valley, such as water and minerals, to power its activities. Beretta has built hydroelectric plants, gas cogeneration systems, and photovoltaic facilities, all of which have been central to a constant, thoughtful approach to energy consumption, aimed at ensuring environmentally respectful production. The first of these plants began operation in 1913.
Since 2010, Beretta has held the mandatory AIA authorization, for businesses with significant environmental impact. In 2014, it obtained ISO 14001 certification for environmental management systems, and in 2015, the first energy audit was undertook, in compliance with Legislative Decree 102/14, which implements Directive 2012/27/EU. With ISO 50001 certification, the company has proactively adopted the European Union’s obligations set to take effect at the end of 2026. This demonstrates Beretta's foresight and commitment to comprehensive environmental responsibility.
Recent inspections highlighted that the production areas, consistently clean and organized, with lush green spaces, are a testament to Beretta’s special focus on maintaining a high-quality working environment and ensuring good air quality in its production sites.
The achievement of ISO 50001 certification was made possible through the implementation of structured systems to continuously monitor energy consumption and the adoption of advanced technologies that optimize energy use, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
By pursuing ISO 50001, our company complies not only with current regulations, but also consistently seeks to exceed expectations with an innovative, forward-thinking approach. However, what truly matters is sustaining the results for which this certification was awarded. The main challenge is not only to optimize consumption but also to ensure that every business process continues to meet high standards of efficiency and sustainability.
