Competition Striker assembly review
"I installed the competition striker spring assembly with no trouble and dry fired the APX in several sessions over a few days before getting to the range. The improvement was immediately noticeable with a lighter trigger pull. The reset pressure was reduced also but still positive and audible. At the range in live fire the trigger worked perfectly and running regular drills in comparison to other guns and the APX with standard striker spring assembly I found it to work perfectly for function. It had no adverse impact on the feel or quality of trigger other than a lighter trigger pull weight and less reset pressure. Overall I am pleased with the trigger and the Competition striker spring assembly Mike".
This striker spring assembly works as instructed. It will not, however, address a heavy trigger assembly issue. I have two APX trigger assemblies, one gives me about 6lbs and the second about 7lbs trigger pull. Doesn't matter which frame I install them in. Both trigger assemblies are identical 1st gen assemblies as far as I can see. The 6lb assembly drops to 5.7 lbs (which is a great trigger), and the 7lbs assembly drops to 6.7 lbs (which is merely acceptable). I can find no info on why one factory trigger assembly is a full 1lb heavier than the other, nor what to do about it other then mess with bending the trigger spring, which I'm not going to do.
