Women's Trap: Beretta dominates the ranking

Another victory added to the successes of the Beretta Team athletes, italian Silvana Stanco with the DT11 Black took second place. With her, Adriana Ruano Oliva (GUA) also with the DT11 Black and Penny Smith (AUS) completed the ranking.

A clear final from the start, where Guatemalan Ruano Oliva led from the first shots. Epic was the feat of Silvana, who was in trouble after the first 25 plates, after which she managed to calm down by completing a very solid test: it was evident from the expression on her face. Aided also by the mistakes of her Australian opponent Smith, who started very well but slowed down in the final phase, Stanco made real progress by reaching the last plates in a convincing manner and winning second place.

An emotional final for Silvana, who is still excited about the extraordinary result. She says: 'I feel great, I am overjoyed. It was a wonderful experience that I dreamed of so much and waited for so long, working hard. It was a nice revenge compared to four years ago, so I am really satisfied.'

President Franco Gussalli Beretta, who was also present in the stands today, said: 'A warm round of applause to Silvana Stanco for achieving a victory by fighting without giving up in difficult moments: it is a demonstration of how determination and talent can overcome any obstacle. Silvana Stanco was born in Zurich in 1993 and is an Italian shooter in the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Gialle. She trains on the stations using the technology of the Shooting Data app, which helps her keep track of her activities in the field. In the last 2020 edition, she represented Italy, finishing fifth in the Trap qualification. On 27 August 2022, she won a competition at the European Championships in Cyprus in the Trap, earning a place for the Italian national team. She achieved a prestigious victory with a score of 40/50.

Disappointed Jessica Rossi, who did not expect this result: 'I did everything I could, but my 120 was not enough to qualify for the final. I have nothing to complain about my athletic preparation and performance, because I think I shot at 100% of my potential. Now inside me there is a whirlwind of mixed emotions, I want to give myself some rest to regroup.'

A different state of mind for Spanish shooter Fatima Galvez (DT11 Black): despite an excellent performance in the qualification, she made mistakes in the first series of the final, jeopardising her chance of reaching the podium. 'The final we all know how it is: always tough, and in such a prestigious context the difficulty is multiplied exponentially. I think a wrong choice of lenses led me to make the initial mistakes. However, I am not losing hope of having my revenge.'

Who sees the glass half-full is Alessandra Perilli (DT11 Silver), also out of the final: 'I am very satisfied, I felt good mentally and physically, I felt it was my chance even if I missed those second targets that are sometimes needed. We will try again: 119 is no longer enough to qualify, the level has risen and there are many of us up there - I want to put myself up there too, because I feel I am up there. It was bad to score like that in this competition because I was technically OK, but I look to the future with optimism.'
