Adrenalin Rises for competition shooting
The Beretta team comes to the event of events with a huge legacy paved with successes since, it was the 1956 Melbourne edition, it won its first gold medal with Galliano Rossini. Since then, there have been 57 medals won, 21 of them of the most precious metal. For the 16th time, Beretta is taking part with its rifles in the most prestigious sporting event of the year: a long history of love and technological development unparalleled in the world arms industry.
For half of this long and beautiful journey through the clay pigeons, there is a man who has been able to magnify the performance of the overlaps made in Gardone Val Trompia and give Italy a cascade of medals: 20 times continental champion, 17 times world champion and 4 Olympic medals (three golds and one bronze). This is, in a nutshell, the palmarès of Giovanni “Johnny” Pellielo. The Piedmontese shooter, who turned 54 in January, is preparing to experience this esteemed sporting event for the eighth time (!). Like him only brothers Raimondo and Piero D'Inzeo and Josefa Idem. “The secret of my longevity? - Pellielo explains - I never made my sport a job, but a love. I never stopped believing in my passion.”
The roster of great world athletes shooting Beretta rifles is large and varied: almost all of them will be slinging the iconic, most successful, the stainless DT11, but for this edition we will also see in action the latest, the SL2, brought to the platform by another iconic Italian shooter: Mauro De Filippis. Predictions? None to be made (and let's touch steel, that Steelium Pro of our barrels!) but with 64 athletes on hand there are good hopes to win a rather sizeable quota. Certainly the tension is to try to break the record achieved in past years (4 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze).
Among the bigs on stage it is impossible not to mention Vincent Hancock, U.S. Skeet athlete who tries to win his fourth title in the renowned competition of the year; Czech Jiri Liptak who yearns to confirm himself the best in Trap; high hopes in the Skeet mixed team with the French pair composed of Lucie Anastassiou and Eric Delaunay. A special mention deserves Diana Bacosi: the Italian Skeet queen already winner of a gold and a silver. Remaining still among women, the desire to win an individual title of the Spanish Fatima Galvez stands out, but above all the great desire to return to the top of Jessica Rossi: for her a very solid preparation to go and erase the dark page of 4 years ago. Same sentiment also for colleagues Silvana Stanco and Tammaro Cassandro.
But at the event of events not only Beretta athletes will go: for this edition, the Gardone-based company decided to raffle 6 trips (for two people) and as many free tickets for employees. How? But of course with a skeet shooting competition held in recent days at a shooting range near the company. Passions, in Beretta, are lived and together. And that is why the Company decided to similarly award 6 Italian shooting ranges and three armories chosen according to performance criteria.
But this prestigious sports competition will also be special for other companies that are part of the Beretta Group: thanks to the recent acquisition by Beretta Holding of Ammotec, there will be the utilization of RWS air ammunition by 10 athletes (representing 7 nations) in the various disciplines of “Target Shooting.”
